The ambitious folk behind shop.co.uk asked us to help them redesign their site interface and advise on usability so their ecommerce mega-site could take on the likes of ebay and amazon marketplace.
Shop's proposition is simple: they are the cheapest e-commerce platform for sellers. The site also has one of the best URLs possible for UK customers.
So, it was Chroma's job to devise a site experience that would ensure sellers signed up and shoppers signed-in. Having said that, shoppers don't even need to sign-in as shop.co.uk's nifty platform allows them to get all the way to the point of entering card details before email addresses are asked for.
Chroma created a site front end that provides a safe, comfortable and easy to navigate environment for customers and enables thousands of individual products from flat screen TVs to organic food bars to be easily sorted and displayed in a stylish framework which applies a graphical consistency and allows for the *ahem* varying quality of product shots.
In short Chroma were able to apply the missing ingredient to a shopping site - style.
As the site goes live and the operation takes off, we're already looking at new logos and mobile browsing...
